On Gratitude

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I realize there are many things going on in the world and in our nation that make “happiness” difficult to find. I was doing some stamping earlier, then listened to a podcast before I peeked at some headlines. Sigh. What a complicated, broken world we live in.

The way I get through this stuff is to focus on simple things. On beautiful things. This morning, Bruce went out to our flower bed to pick some sunflowers but the bees were all over them! (That’s good news!) Instead, he reached down to the smaller flowers and arranged them in a tiny vase.

Why does this sort of thing matter? First, I am reminded of my wonderful husband who showers me with love in many ways including flowers in our yard. Second, I am reminded of the blessing of actually having this house and yard in a time of hardship. And we have this house because of Bruce’s good and very steady job. We have flowers growing because he is healthy enough to do some gardening. I can enjoy them because I have eyes that are able to see. And the flowers exist, we exist, because God Himself has chosen to create all of this!

Gazing at something which is simple and beautiful can start us on a mental path of GRATITUDE. And prayers of gratitude are fuel for a beautiful day.

I am grateful for all of you! How can I pray for you this week?
